Tervis is one of the most popular plastic drinkware development company in U.S.
Their signature product is double walled plastic tumbler but, they wanted to expand their business territory to the entire tablewares.
Under this strategy, They were interested with bowl as their first non-drinkware product.
Familiar but different.
Tervis wanted to develop their first bowl with double wall that can match with their all other existing products as well as appeal their major capabilities. They also wanted their bowl design to have wave patterns on the outer surface match with their signature tumblers.
They basically wanted familiar design as Tervis family, but also different as non-drinkware product.
Design development was proceed focusing on how to satisfy Tervis design requirements with well balanced design between familiar and different.
Fabricating appearance models to evaluate overall form factor and aesthetics.
Team was explored variety aesthetics based on Tervis design requirement which was: Familiar, but different bowl design.
Tervis decision making group down selected leading concept based on their requirements and team was fabricated appearance model to evaluate overall form factor and aesthetic of down selected concept. Tervis internal team evaluated appearance model considered their customer’s preferences, brand identity and marketing direction. Team was proceeded design refinement based on evaluation feedbacks.

The Ripple was designed with minimal ordinary overall shape considered its primary purpose as bowl, but unique design details are communicating its own character as Tervis family.
The Ripple’s faded out ripple pattern on the bottom surface is inspired from Tervis signature tumbler. This ripple pattern is visually communicating Tervis product’s signature, but faded out pattern detail is making it differentiate than tumblers. Calm and organic ripple pattern on the bowl cover is well coordinating with patterns on the bowl, but it is also creating its own unique character compare with other Tervis products as well as other competitive bowl products.
Colored rim part is also designed following Tervis’s other tumblers, but it was required part based on their manufacturing process.
The Ripple is intuitively revealing Tervis brand through its aesthetics, but all design details are creating its own character at the same time.
Provide highly customizable opportunities same as other Tervis products.

You can add any graphics on your bowl through custom order.
Tervis will produce your custom order with two different process depending on level of graphics:
inserting additional graphic layer in between inner and outer bowl walls
Printing graphics on the outside of inner bowl.
