Define “Lite version of Home Bar”

The goal of project was making it “Lite” and “Casual” with low cost to approach variety consumers.

To make it with low cost, client decided to remove internal chilling tank which was the most expensive component from the original Home Bar. this decision gave opportunity to make second generation product with compact size and it helps to create “Lite” image through overall size itself.

For the Drinkworks, it is important to maintain cohesive visual elements to establish brand identity through product itself. Team already developed key design elements inspired from authentic bar objects for the Home Bar to communicate modernized authentic cocktail experience. To maintain cohesive visual brand identity, team decided to keep those design elements for the second generation product. Overall design development was proceed focused on maintain key design element of Home Bar as family product, but make it “Lite” and “Casual” version with low cost.

Fabricating 3D printed model to evaluate scale, form and usability.

After Drinkworks down selected single design direction, team fabricated 3D printed model to evaluate scale, form and usability.

Drinkworks marketing team evaluated prototypes via target user interviews and tests for the original Home Bar. However, team evaluated new product concept 3D printed model with internal Drinkworks team only due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The Home Bar Classic: Delivering modernized authentic bar experience to your home although it is lite.

Drinkworks Home Bar Classic designed with maintain original Home Bar’s key design elements to communicate cohesive visual brand identity through product itself. It designed with Beer draft tower shaped cylindrical tower and cocktail shaker shaped pod holder same as original Home Bar. However, they are not have chrome plated surface finishes to make it lite as well as low cost.

The Home Bar Classic does not designed with cold aluminum bale handle. It is same approach as low cost version Keurig coffee makers to create its own character, visually making it lite as well as reducing production cost. However, cocktail shaker shaped pod holder is still communicating authentic bar experience through shape itself.

The Home Bar Classic designed with compact size as possible to make it visually lite than original Home Bar. Reduced functions and simpler U.I also helps to communicate lite version of Home Bar as well. All parts are having natural as molded surface finishes to make them low cost as possible, but they are visually more casual than original Home Bar making it easier to approach.

Team also reused original Home bar’s parts as much as possible to make it with low production cost as possible. This efforts were realized another meaning of lite in cost.

Home Bar Classic is delivering modernized authentic bar experience same as original Home Bar although it is lite and casual.
