2019 For The Salvation Army
The salvation Army is one of the world biggest and famous non-profit organization.
Their donation bucket is one of the world famous symbol of donation and people are very familiar with it. However, donation through their symbolic bucket was going down year by year.
They wanted to improve this situation through upgrade their donation bucket reflected change of era to provide better donation experience.
Maintain traditions, but make it smarter.
People are very familiar with the Salvation Army’s donation kettle which has a long history. This is a symbol of the Salvation Army and I thought this symbol should maintain to keep bringing its history and emotions although it becomes smarter and more modern. At the same time, new modernized donation kettle should improve the donation experience for encourage people to donate effectively.
Based on this background, design development proceeded focused on making it a modernized smart donation kettle.
The project budget and schedule were allowed only 4 hours for the design activities including physical product design, UI, and UX design. Finishing all design activities in under 4 hours was another critical challenge.
Fabricating working prototype to evaluate overall form factor and usabilities.
Team fabricated a working prototype with an iPhone screen that has InVision digital prototype on it to evaluate UX.
The working prototype was tested random people internally and proceeded with UX design refinement based on feedback.
The Smile Red Kettle: a smarter way to donate.
The Smile Red Kettle was designed with a modernized kettle shape that is minimal and concise. It is communicating a modern way of donating even though maintains a traditional kettle shape.
The Smile Red kettle is providing a variety of donation options. You can donate with your smart pay and credit card via tap and donate feature. Or you can also donate the traditional way with cash through its smiley mouse. These variety of donation options are improving the donation experience with the smartest way to encourage people to donate.
You can see a smiley face of the kettle when you donate and it is another small playful and friendly features to encourage people to donate more.
The Smile Red Kettle is a modernized symbol of The Salvation Army that can bring its traditions and emotions.
