The Tru Defender

Hazardous Chemical Material Analyzer For TSWG

2012 For Thermo Fisher Scientific

Thermo Fisher Scientific is one of the world biggest and famous scientific instrumentation and reagents development company.

One of their biggest customer was U.S government and the Tru Defender was developed under special order from the TSWG (Technical Support Working Group)

Challenge to reduce of heat and protect of device.

Thermo Fisher Scientific engineering team was already developed internal components before they asked a design development based on TSWG (Technical Support Working Group)’s special order. They wanted to develop a device design based on already developed internal components without any additions or changes due to overall product development schedule.

One critical problem of already developed internal components was a heat. Some of internal components are generating high temperature heat while they are running and it could potentially harm users hand while they are operating device. Based on this, how to effectively reduce heat was one of the design challenge.

This new hazardous chemical material analyzer will be using mostly in the outdoor. There are a lot of possible crashes from its main use environments. Based on this, how to effectively protect the device from potential crashes was another design challenge.

Design development was proceed focusing on above challenges.

Ready to support TSWG as their first defender.

To reduce heat of internal components, the Tru Defender was designed with series of aluminum pins on the main housing. They are dramatically reducing heat and the engineering team verified it with heat tests. However, aluminum pins are weak from crashes. To resolve this issue, a rubber boot is covering entire housing. The rubber boot is having top and bottom opening holes along the aluminum pins and they are supporting air circulation to reduce heat. it is also protecting the device from any harmful crashes in the outdoor use environments.

The Tru Defender’s concise and clean button layout is providing intuitive usability that user can quickly deal with any missions.

The Tru Defender is ready to support TSWG as trustworthy first defender.

*The Tru Defender was produced with low volume only for the TSWG
